Welcome to Troop 140
Welcome to the home page of The Boy Scouts of America, Troop 140 based in rural, scenic Blairstown, New Jersey in Warren County. We are part of the
Pahaquarra District of the Central New Jersey Council. The troop has a long and proud history actually dating back more than 75 years. We have been sponsored for the most recent 52 years by the First United Methodist Church in Blairstown, NJ.
Troop 140 meets every
Monday evening at 7:30 PM
at the First United Methodist Church (on Stillwater Road behind the elementary
school) in Blairstown. We enjoy an interesting and challenging program
stressing the ideals and values which are the foundation of the Scouting
movement. The troop goes camping at least once a month throughout the
year. We also attend numerous events including camporees (including the
annual West Point Camporee), the Klondike derby, sporting and civic events
and parades among others. Our Venture Patrol hikes the Adirondack mountains
each summer including a restful and fun few days at Brant Lake. We stress
building confidence, leadership, team skills and citizenship in all our
activities.
As our Scouts progress from Tenderfoot to Eagle rank
they learn to appreciate the ideals set forth in the Scout Oath and Scout
Law. In addition, through the skills they acquire they realize a good
measure of self-reliance and independence (the good kind). They learn
their duty to GOD, COUNTRY, SELF and OTHERS.
If you're at least 11 years old (or more) and are
up to the challenge, come join us in the adventure.... |
